There are abandoned houses, barns, schools and windmills through out the Palouse region and beyond. Because the climate is so dry many of them remain standing for decades after they are no longer used. We have noticed during our travels in the Palouse over the years that some of these historic old houses and barns have collapsed and are no longer there. Several buildings in our photograhs are not visible from any public road. Only because they were shown to us by some very kind and generous property owners were we able to photograph them.
