Wind turbines are a relatively recent addition to the Palouse landscape. The typical wind turbine has a mast that is 220 feet tall caped by a generator and three blades that are 130 feet long. It is hard to appreciate how big they are (as tall as a 35 story building) until you are standing right underneath one and can hear the gentle woosh - woosh - woosh of the giant blades as they pass overhead. There are dozens of "wind farms" in the Palouse that together generate hundreds of megawatts of electricity.
